Dusting Off

Now that I’ve back up-and-running with Linux again, it’s time to dust off the Ping Retrieval work I started on so many months ago. There seems to be some renewed interest in that sort of thing.

Have slowly gotten my Linux box back into shape under Debian. apt-get rocks, yada yada, except that the Stable feed is terribly out of date. PHP is a prime example, v4.1.2 from February of last year, 5 releases behind current. All of my PHP code depends on changes released with v4.2.0, over 8 months ago.

Finally got more RAM for my desktop machine, bringing it from 512MB to 896MB. VMware gets more memory and I don’t have to shut it down to run Visual Studio, yippie.

I Sink Ships

iSync has finally gone 1.0. Still doesn’t support any phones that aren’t from Ericsson. Still nothing for developers. CNET continues to hype Apple vs Microsoft. Without APIs there will be no battle, Microsoft wins by default.
