Coolest Mozilla / Phoenix add-in ever:
AdBlock is an image filtering plug-in for the Mozilla and Phoenix-browsers. It can essentially be seen as a program that allows more fine-grained image-control than the built-in “Block images from this server”-function.
AdBlock allows the user to specify a number of filters, which removes unwanted images based on their address. Filters are specified using the wildcard character (*) or regular expressions. It’s thus possible to control in some detail what is displayed.
Upon loading a page, AdBlock will scan through it and remove or hide the elements that matches the filters entered by the user. It doesn’t prevent content from being downloaded, merely from being displayed. It’s capable of removing both images and flashanimations.
Ten seconds to install, brain-dead simple to use, and best of all, it has a “remove” mode that will elliminate all traces of an ad — content reflows into the space formerly occupied by the ad. Sweet.
