I haven’t been very happy with using rss2email as my RSS aggregator. My setup is overly complicated. I had to remove a few feeds that it always had problems with. I never see updates from my own RSS 2.0 feed. For some feeds it always sends me all items.
And rss2email sends plain-text emails. Ordinarily I hate HTML email, but this is one instance where I would prefer it.
I saw that Aggie RC5 can now send email, so I gave it a shot. No emails arrived. I dug out tcpTrace to see what was happening, Exim didn’t like the MAIL FROM / RCPT TO lines that Aggie was sending. That was easy enough to fix once I found Aggie’s makefile.
Later today I’ll migrate one of my RSS groups to Aggie, and if everything is cool I’ll complete the switch this weekend.
