XML-RPC Request Builder

24Feb03

Andre Torrez has released a graphical XML-RPC request builder for Windows. I built something similar when I was creating Pocket Blog, but Andre’s tool is much better.

Another Re-design

24Feb03

I’ve completely re-designed my templates based on Andre Torrez’s weblog — simple and stylish, CSS that’s easily understood, no hacks. Looks good in Pocket IE and Konqueror/Embedded, too. I’m also using Mark Pilgrim’s full-screen calendar template.
As usual, my live templates may be downloaded and the Readme has been updated with the proper credits.

First Mobile Post?

24Feb03

Joi Ito’s Moblog Chronology has Stuart Woodward making the first mobile weblog posting on January 4th, 2001 via SMS. In today’s Moblogging article on Slashdot, Stuart dropped a comment asking if anyone came before him.
I’d always thought that my experiments using a Palm Vx with a Nokia 8890 might have Stuart beat, but I didn’t […]

Bayesian Aggregation, Part II

23Feb03

iFile finally classified something as belonging on my weblog, but I have no idea why… Justin Rudd’s Busy weekend complicated by O/R Mappers doesn’t sound at all like my weekend.

I’ve been cleaning up some of the UI cruft in my templates. Good-bye ugly side navigation box, hello top navigation. I’ve also added a Syndication page, (hopefully) improved the Topic Index, enabled comments, and reverted back to the Movable Type Trackback system because I will probably never fully implement mine.
As a side benefit to the […]

$0 HipTops, non-$199 PDAs, and Storage

19Feb03

HipTops are free with rebates, again, and wannabe HipTop developers can look forward to the Danger SDK arriving any day now.
The $199 Toshiba e350 may not be so cheap.
Has the Palm OS camp given up on attracting new users in the $199-$299 range? Sony’s new Clie SJ33 is nice compared to the other lackluster $299 […]

Spam Notes

19Feb03

Slashdot asks about ISPs that actively combat spam. Microsoft is suing spammers that harvest Hotmail addresses. And a group of “Email Marketers” is fielding complaints about spam filters.

Radio Archive Migration

19Feb03

Matt Mower tells me that liveTopics 1.1 provides a backup feature that will produce an XML file of Post IDs and Topics. That settles one thing…
Next problem: Most of my Radio posts were created with MSIE’s WYSIWYG control. I need something that will massage bad HTML into valid XHTML.
