Nokia Trumps Danger in Retarded Browser Olympics

25Apr03

The XHTML browser on the Nokia 3650 takes Danger’s CSS media screw-ups to a new level. Nokia’s browser doesn’t merely render my Screen stylesheet instead of the Handheld one, it actually appears to be merging them.

Flip-Flop

Frank McPherson had thought that PDA phones were better than smart phones because phones are lousy PDAs, but now he is realizing his T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition isn’t the greatest PDA either: not enough RAM, no SDIO, no jog wheel.
Samsung’s SPH-i700 and SGH-i700 should address those complaints, but… It takes a long time to […]

Boot OZ from SD

There’s a FAQ explaining how to Boot OpenZaurus from an SD card. With this method the original OZ image is retained in ROM and can be booted by removing the SD card.

Palm has begun shipping two Palm OS 5.2.1 devices of their own. The $299 Zire 71 has a 144MHz TI OMAP processor, 16MB RAM, 320×320 color […]

No problem, I can just install Palm Desktop, HotSync, hard-reset, HotSync, and everything should be fine… Right?
Wrong! As it turns out, Palm […]

Switching…

22Apr03

FedEx delivered my new AT&T Nokia 3650 this afternoon, it’s finished charging and ready to go. Had a mini panic attack over how to transfer my phone numbers, but my SIM-unlocked 8890 finally emerged from the junk on my desk.
First Impressions
It feels lighter than it looks. The speakerphone is barely loud enough to use at […]
