Front-runners in my search for a new laptop backpack are the Dakota Computer Brief Backpack ($120-$150 street) and Ogio Metro ($60 street). Inspiron 8600 owners on the Dell support forums have mentioned both as being good fits, but the manufacturers don’t provide enough pictures to judge their ability to carry my load and I haven’t yet found a local retailer that offers them.
Brethaven’s “Professional 17 Backpack” appeals to my fashion sensibilities, but it is made only for PowerBooks so I suspect that my (thicker, narrower, deeper) Dell won’t properly fit in the sleeve and my local Apple store doesn’t have them in stock to test.
The Shaun Jackson Design’s BackOffice is a single-purpose bag with an interesting design.
WaterField Designs offers a perfectly sized laptop sleeve that makes me wonder if I should just keep my Tumi…
