In the wee hours of this morning I began dusting off an old VB.NET project, and to my dismay it no longer builds using my instructions for targetting the Compact Framework with SharpDevelop. I suspect that #develop is auto-magically adding References to the full .NET Framework behind the scenes because all of the compiler errors are about ambiguous references.
Has anyone out there already tackled this issue with #develop 0.98?
Alternately, has anyone figured out a way to build VS.NET 2003 CF projects using just the free .NET SDK tools and CF libraries? VS.NET 2003 is the best environment for creating CF apps but I would prefer that my personal projects not be locked-in to a compiler that isn’t free (beer).
PS: Why isn’t there a no-cost version of the full Visual Studio suite? Stand-alone VS.NET licenses don’t seem to add much to Microsoft’s bottom line, MSDN subscriptions provide enough value to thrive without the “free” VS.NET seat, and pretty much every other platform vendor provides a free and complete compiler suite (Apple, Palm, etc).

Just a nit on the spelling, there….
Glad to hear you are returning to this project. Your prior abandonment pretty much wiped out about half my interest in (connected) PocketPC.
Of course, now I have ditched my bluetooth phone so of course you would now get this to work ;~)
