One of the NOC guys at work IM’d this afternoon to say that several people were laid off today, including my current manager and the Robosapien. Times must be getting tough…
I’m in the process of moving to another department, it’s my day off, and I’m not at all attached to this company anyway, so no worries here.
Update: Also heard that my former web hosting employer is getting rid of their South Florida support department in 60 days — I imagine those jobs are going to a near-shore call center in the islands. Our support center is shutting down — again — but our guys get the option of paid relocation to HQ. The writing has been on the wall for a while, my old partner in crime made the move a month ago. I escaped support early this year and will be in Product Development — where I belong — very soon.
Every day inspires me more to generate income of my own instead of collecting a pay check…
