Jeanne

24Sep04

Another day, another hurricane. And this season isn’t even close to over yet.

Over 1,000 people were killed by Tropical Storm Jeanne in Haiti. Amazing. Haiti isn’t some third-world country halfway across the world, it’s a third-world country just barely off our shores. Isn’t it time for America to clean up our own neighborhood?

I’m really disappointed at having the JAG season premier pre-empted. My local Fox affiliate is still broadcasting it’s crap, along with NBC, WB, and UPN.

My weekend plans are probably shot.

Luckily I’m still stocked up on the hurricane essentials from Frances…

9/25/04 10:00 Update: Here she comes…

20:00 Update: It’s still early, but it looks like I’m lucky again to be well south of the worst. The power hasn’t so much as flickered today, knock on wood.

9/26/04 12:45 Update: Standing on my balcony I can’t see any damage in my neighborhood. Figure that Frances already took out most of the easy targets in this area.

Since there aren’t major power outages in this area the local malls and many stores have already re-opened.

And today is my kid brother’s 20th birthday.

Looks like you won’t have too much trouble. My parents lost power for a short time then it came back on. Good luck tonight weathering this one.

Shouldn’t be bad, but I’d still rather that we’d gone to Oktoberfest this weekend ;-)
You may be stuck working in Kentucky, but at least you’re dry…

Um…but it’s my birthday today too. You know you spend too much time in hotels when: The only person who gets you a cake on your birthday is the hotel’s corporate sales rep who also arranges your room rate and books your rounds of golf.

Its a really nice cake though.
