Surplus APC Smart-UPS 2200 3U from work for roughly $1 per pound.
My normal running gear — five PCs, one 17″ and two 20″ LCDs, couple of phones, etc — lights up just one of the five load LEDs. I wonder how much stuff I would need to turn on to get two? 
The real question is, how many load bars light up when you start all five PC’s at the same time? Often gear will draw a lot of current starting up (charging capacitors, spinning up drives and fans, etc), then drop off.
It’s still just one bar, not that it would matter. When the power goes out I usually start turning PCs off, not on.
