Crippled?

28Dec04

I can’t get MobileAtom J2ME, MIDlog, or Azure weblog clients to work on my A630. The latter two support Movable Type, tail‘ng my server logs I see that a request never arrives. I do get the “Allow network access” prompt.

Is T-Mobile doing stuff to muck with port 80 on T-Zones plans, or is the A630 just completely worthless?

Hey, they blocked port 80, so none of those are going to work. Sucks, right? I’m switching to at&t/cingular.

Yeah, I’ve been hearing that elsewhere too. I don’t mind upgrading to the $20 plan, but… They’ve locked out the network settings on the phone.

And my e-mail still doesn’t work.

Oh yeah, I purchased the “MPT” sync software over the weekend. It is sooo bad. Worse than Nokia’s Phone Suite. Worse than Intellisync for Zaurus. Worse than even Yahoo! Intellisync.

And one more thing. I’ve heard it mentioned in a few places that the unbranded firmware has proper IM and E-mail applications. I hope those rumors are true and that the firmware makes it’s way to the ‘net… I’m loathe to buy replacement J2ME apps because only one can run at a time.
