A630 Goes Buh-Bye

10Jan05

Tomorrow I’ll be contacting T-Mobile and Amazon to cancel my account and return the Motorola A630. I could live with the ways that Motorola fouled up the phone but T-Mobile just keeps making it worse. First was the T-Zones port blocking. Then there were the problems getting e-mail provisioning to work. And the piss-poor web browsing. I could have lived with all of that, but over the weekend the built-in e-mail app stopped functioning — “Network Not Available.” There are only two things this phone does decently — voice and e-mail. Without working and reliable e-mail it’s just not worth it.

I think I’ll re-up with AT&T / Cingular once the Siemens SX66 is available again…

Irony: Right now I’m the first hit on Google for A630 and Motorola A630. Motorola’s product page is #2.

    bryce,

i think it is you that is the fucktard. one thing i can’t stand is some pseudo intellectual computer geek that spits out a bunch of jargon to sound intelligent. for whom are you reviewing these products? as a seasoned IT professional, i understand your techno babble, but it’s pretty lame. you returned this phone for “non-RF reasons”? that’s really fucking intuitive. i know what you mean, but does anyone else?

i read the reply of jneutron, and i agree with what s/he said. you failed to mention any of its major shortcomings for the everyday consumer, such as significant ringer, headset and speakerphone low-volume issues.

based on your pathetic review and your reaction to some less than perfect feedback you got, your site has lost all credibility in my eyes.

    kindly fuck off.

    cheers,
    alex

    Hey, Bryce,

Have you looked at the Treo 650? Just wondering because I don’t see any mention of it in your blog.

I jumped back to it from my PPC/VGA1000 combo, and so far, am pretty happy. Would be happier if someone wrote a full-featured blogging app for Palm that included image upload (wink, wink)…

The only thing it doesn’t offer me is WiFi. But I do even use it with a serial cable and my GPS, as well as my bluetooth headset…

    Thanks,

    barky81
