Accessories

A trip to Best Buy on the way home from work lightened my wallet by $200. I now have the Logitech Cordless Action Controller for PS1/2 and Precision Cordless Controller For Xbox, a Sony 8MB Memory Card for PS2, an ACTION REPLAY MAX EVO for infinite saves to USB storage, and the ever-elusive Sony PS2 Component AV Cable which required sending two salespeople into the storeroom to find. That brings me to about $300 in hardware and accessories just so I could play one $50 game. This is exactly why I didn’t replace my European PS2 when I returned stateside in 2001 — none of the early titles connected with me and I figured that GT3 would be the only game I’d ever play. I got myself an Xbox for Christmas instead and sunk serious time into three of the five launch titles I picked up.

Clearly I’ve become more stupid in 2005.

I’m hearing good things about Tekken 5 from folks who, like me, didn’t care for Tekken 4, so maybe I’ll get to amortize the expense across a whopping 2 games.

These Logitech controllers are seriously sweet tho. Both have very comfortable forms that look and feel like a million bucks. Tonight’s GT4 session didn’t leave me with hand cramps or soreness. The larger Xbox version seems even more comfortable in my hands but I haven’t really used it yet. The Black and White buttons seem less prone to accidental pressing than Microsoft’s compact controllers, which had been my excuse for clinging to the original old-school jumbo controllers for all these years…
