404 Not Found

07Mar05

So I’m checking up on my web server this weekend, making sure that everything is humming along smoothly since the migration. Perusing my raw access logs I see some signs that my comment spammers continue to adapt — they’ve found the new location of my MT scripts and now appear to be crawling the site in order to appear more human (and perhaps also to generate referral links). I checked the compiled statistics… Over 3800 404 errors so far this month. I go back to the raw logs and notice that the URLs on the 404s seem to be for content from my old Radio weblog. That’s quite odd…

And that reminds me that I should migrate the site. So I add it to Plesk, rsync the content over, head over to xname.org to update the DNS, and see that radio.ntwizards.net is actually a CNAME for ntwizards.net. D’oh! That explains those 404s…

I really need to do something about all that old content stuck in Radio Userland hell…
