Found a 9-2X, 5-speed, Sport, Arctic Silver just like my M3. $21,140 + $75 GM Employee discount fee (legit) + $56 dealer paperwork (big whoop) = $21,271 out-the-door. Florida taxes, tag and title fees will be my responsibility (and I should save a few hundred bucks since I’m not paying the dealer to do it). The car is near Chicago, waiting to find out what shipping will cost. Probably would be cheaper to just fly out there and drive back. My dad is semi-retired now, maybe he’d like to make the road trip…
The dealer is Saab Exchange. I’d read on Fat Wallet that they are a no-nonsense shop and that they’ve been able to obtain the hard-to-find cars due to their high sales volume. It took Tom Higgins under 30 minutes to call me back with a car. I spoke to “Steve” 90 minutes ago, he’s still looking.
Also did a little research on performance upgrades last night. Lots of folks report that a chip upgrade ($600 list) works wonders for the turbo lag, and combined with a high-end exhaust ($1200 list) the 9-2X sprints to 60MPH in well under 5 seconds and hits mid-13s in the quarter-mile. Not bad, especially for under $25k…
