Free SIM Unlock for HTC Devices

02Mar06

The HTC Wizard Unlocker removes the SIM lock from any HTC Wizard variant (T-Mobile USA MDA, Cingular 81xx, i-mate K-JAM, etc). You must sign in to the forum to see the download. Worked like a charm on my MDA. The tool can also perform a “CID unlock” to allow another vendor’s firmware to be used, which I suspect will be important for many people once the MSFP (Exchange Push) updates start appearing (or likely not appearing if you purchased a US carrier variant).

XDA all-in-one works with the Himalaya (XDA II), Magician (JAM), Blue Angel (PDA2K), and Alpine (XDA IIi), xda2unlock works with the original Wallaby (XDA). Universal and Prophet users seem to be out of luck at the moment.

SPV-Services removes the SIM lock on all HTC Smartphone devices. To unlock the Audiovox SMT-5600 you must first either flash another vendor’s Typhoon firmware or disable the software security settings. There is an Audiovox SMT-5600 unlock package that includes SPV-Services and will adjust the security for you. Worked fine on my so-called Scoblephone (I had one first, darnit!).
