Infill T3 CarPC now available in the US

12Jul06

The mp3car.com store is now selling Infill T3 CarPC w/ StreetDeck for a mere US$2,199. The T3 is an all-in-one double-DIN automotive PC with motorized flip-out LCD, integrated 44Wx4 amp, remote control, AM/FM radio, TV tuner, 3 video inputs, DVD-ROM, 1GHz Via CPU, 40GB HD, and 512MB RAM (1GB max). Essentially it is a drop-in CarPC replacement for a double-DIN headunit.

I’d contacted several importers about this unit a year ago and basically learned that the JDM crowd aren’t interested in Korean products, so I’m very happy to learn that StreetDeck has picked up the product. There’s no other hardware similar to Infill’s on the market and the StreetDeck software looks to be the best comprehensive package available as well.

Soooo tempting. A base Mac Mini, Lilliput touchscreen w/ transflextive mod, WRX double-DIN LCD housing, and CarNetix power supply w/ Mac Mini plug cost over $1500. Add in the cost of software, an amp or replacement headunit w/ aux input, wiring, fabricating something to hold the Mini, and the pain of making it all work together, suddenly $2,199 doesn’t seem like much of a premium.

Think I’ll sleep on it…
