That didn’t take long

My ‘blog was outed at work and I was summoned to the Principal’s office on Tuesday morning. Err, my director’s office, for a conference call with our VP in Atlanta. It wasn’t so bad, really not bad at all, just perhaps a bit nit-picky. I decided to make a couple of changes.

The job posting is for a peer, not a tongue-firmly-planted-in-cheek lackey. On the plus side they liked my job description better than what they’d been using with the staffing firm. The position is still open and I’m still willing to pay out $100 from my own pocket plus what Peer 1 pays for a successful referral ($750 at hire + $750 after the probationary period). It’ll be posted company-wide soon so there’s not much time left to find an outside candidate.

And I took down some information about what we’re working on. I didn’t perceive any of it as a big deal, I mean, what hosting company isn’t doing or planning to do those things? But our institutional paranoia about the competition seems to be on the rise and, while it may have been a winnable argument, it also struck me as an argument not worth winning. Se’la’vie.

Anyhow. Buy more servers. Have I mentioned that we’re offering 64-bit SQL Server? And giving away iPods? Oh, yeah!
