Absolutely sucked. It started when I arrived at FLL and found the US Airways check-in line ended all the way over here:
If you’ve not been to FLL in the past decade, this is the “Mall” corridor that runs behind all the check-in desks. I did make my flight but only because someone at US Airways was smart enough to pull everyone from the line that was at risk of missing their flight while standing in line. Probably because they realized that all the planes would be departing nearly empty.
We pulled away from the terminal late, and some time later pulled back in because the pilot “heard a noise”, making our arrival in Phoenix extremely late. Somehow my luggage made our connecting flight but I did not. Not that I minded all that much, after my day so far I really wanted a beer and a cigarette.
Of course, after that was done I realized that being at an airport for several hours really really sucks. I wandered over to my new gate and watched some TV shows on my Zen. I really wanted to spread out and take a nap, but it’s a good thing that I didn’t because my gate changed with no announcement.
On the plus side, all of my contraband made it safely to San Diego.
