It’s price-cutting time at Intel and the Quad Core Q6600 is now $299.99 at Newegg. This is the first time that a LGA775 quad core CPU has been available for less than it’s LGA771 equivalent. Yummy!
Edit: Monday evening the price has bounced up to $375 on Newegg, while the X3220 (Xeon LGA775 version) is at $315. WTF? Oh well, plenty of other places are listing the Q6600 around $300. Intel’s official price is $266 in 1,000 quantity so I would expect street prices to drop a bit more in the coming weeks.
