Quite the workout

Got home from work and decided that the motorcycle had to be turned around. In searching online for a device to make this easier I learned that many people just put their bikes up on the center stand, push on the back to get the front wheel up, and rotate. So I gave it a whirl. Sure as heck didn’t rotate easily, but it did move. Put it back on the wheels to re-position for more clearance. Almost dropped it. Twice. It ain’t easy trying to walk and balance a 600lb, two-wheeled object.

Getting it back on the center stand to finish turning it around was another pain. I’m no lightweight but I practically have to jump on the thing to get it up; I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for a person of “average” weight. Almost makes me wish that I’d gotten a ~200lb lighter sport bike. Especially after I put the bike back down, got it to its final position, and had to raise it up on the center stand one last time. All told it only took about 15 minutes but I think it was probably the heaviest workout I’ve had since my last trip to Prague.

On the plus side, once backed into the spot I’d originally wanted to use it is perfectly positioned out of everyone’s way. The level of effort to get it there is just very high. I’m not sure that the Park-n-Move dolly would make it all that much easier, just less risk of dropping the bike on myself.

Think I’ll take another look at the garage this weekend. There’s no way that I can relocate or get rid of enough stuff to pull the bike straight in but I might be able to clear enough space to park parallel to the garage door.
