Resurrection

10Apr04

In the wee hours of this morning I began dusting off an old VB.NET project, and to my dismay it no longer builds using my instructions for targetting the Compact Framework with SharpDevelop. I suspect that #develop is auto-magically adding References to the full .NET Framework behind the scenes because all of the compiler errors […]

Targeting the Compact Framework with SharpDevelop

30Aug03

I’m in a coding state of mind lately, so I decided to dust off an unfinished Compact Framework project. This presented some problems, of course. My Beta installation of VS.NET 2003 expired in June. I have a stand-alone version of VB.NET 2002, not VS.NET 2002, so I’ve been left out in the cold when it […]

PPCW Tanager

01Jun03

Arne Hess is selling Tanager SmartPhones to PPCW readers for $550, completely unlocked, but he’s managed to sell out his first batch in under a week. DigiTimes put Arne’s announcement on equal footing with GSM carriers, which is pretty funny.
As much as I want one, I’m still going to wait because it’s not clear if […]

Zaurus .NET and CF w/o Visual Studio

12May03

mono::handhelds is an “iPKG package feed for Mono and GTK# binaries compiled for the ARM architecture.” As of today it works on the Zaurus, hopefully this will inspire the qtsharp folks to work on support for Qt/Embedded, Qtopia, and Opie.
msmobiles is publishing ways to target the .NET Compact Framework without buying Visual Studio .NET 2003.

.NET CF finally arrives!

20Mar03

The .NET Compact Framework v1.0 redistributable is now available for download. Press Release.
Supports Pocket PC 2000, Pocket PC 2002, Windows CE .NET 4.1.

Go Live

27Dec02

Catching up on my newsgroup reading, discovered that there is an e-mail address to receive the Go Live license. Woot!

Getting There

25Dec02

I’ve “finished” almost all of the non-GUI parts of Pocket Blog for .NET: http-lib, xmlrpc-lib, bloggerApi-lib, pbStorage, pbConf, pbWeblogEntries, and Really Simple Discovery. All that’s left is to wrap a GUI around all of those modules. Feels like the first Beta release should be ready this week, except for one problem…
No license for the […]

Compact Framework Trial and Error

23Dec02

I’ve “finished” cache, serialization, and storage for the .NET version of Pocket Blog. The entry management module should be done, but when I started updating my test application to thoroughly stress everything I ran into problems with my HTTP module. I turned to Google: HttpWebResponse “Compact Framework”. Naturally, the first link is me bitching about […]
