Linux Lovin’

30Jan03

For quite some time I have been wanting to get my ~ 1GB worth of email archives out of Outlook’s proprietary format, with an eye towards eventually moving off of Outlook completely, but the process hasn’t been easy. I’ve tried several tools for importing Outlook mail into mbox/mbx format but all have barfed on my […]

More on KHTML vs. Gecko

CNET’s “Apple snub stings Mozilla” article has the Mozilla crew in a tizzy. Here’s a choice weblog quote:

PHP is a prime example, v4.1.2 from February of last year, 5 releases behind current. All of my PHP code depends on changes released with v4.2.0, over 8 months ago.

Shifting

03Jan03

Finally got more RAM for my desktop machine, bringing it from 512MB to 896MB. VMware gets more memory and I don’t have to shut it down to run Visual Studio, yippie.
Moved the freed up 128MB stick to my Linux box… Redhat 8’s GUI is still a dog. Windows XP Pro and Windows 2000 Server had […]

Reuters: META Predicts Microsoft Will Offer Linux Software.

META Group predicted that Linux will be used on nearly half of new servers by 2007, up from its current share of 15 to 20 percent, making it difficult for Microsoft to ignore Linux as a platform for its database, Web hosting and e-mail server applications.
