Vista’d

01Feb07

Number of Windows Updates needed on a brand new pre-installed copy of Vista? Nine.
And I’ve already got a blocked driver. Apparently it’s a Roxio thing caused by said Windows Updates.

And here is all the crap that came pre-installed in spite of my efforts to un-select everying during Dell’s BTO process.

Waiting is the hardest part

31Jan07

I would have had my new Dell today, but for whatever reason the UPS person decided that today would be the day that s/he would actually get the required signature instead of just knocking once and dumping the package at the front door.
Oh well. Hopefully tomorrow someone will answer when the UPS person knocks.

Nearly Two Weeks with T-Mobile’s MDA

A 330MB freaking Service Pack… […]

15 Minutes

14Dec04

Dear Microsoft,

Sincerely,

Six and a half hours

That’s how long it took to get my laptop running with the new hard drive. It sure would be nice if Microsoft provided tools to make the process of migrating to a new drive easier, or at least didn’t go so far out of their way to make it so damned difficult.
This is what Mac […]

VPN

Why is “Use default gateway on remote network” a Yes / No option? I want three choices: Never, Always, and Only for Private IP ranges (RFC1918). And it should be the default.
