First post from my television…
The tuners arrived this afternoon. Installation and configuration with Media Center was simple enough but I was a bit disappointed that Microsoft doesn’t provide a chance to verify that the correct cable line-up was selected. For my zip code there were seven or eight different line-ups from my cable company.
Looks like […]

10Feb05Tuning In
07Feb05I ordered a pair of eVGA NVTV Single-tuner cards from Amazon today — their free shipping made the to-my-door price cheaper than anyone that Froogle and assorted other pricing sites could turn up. Amazon offers quite a few tuners from the Designed for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Logo Partner List. NewEgg, unfortunately, stocks […]
Little Green Button
04Feb05So I came home Wednesday with most of my XP MCE parts in hand, eager to start building. In general I hate any kind of work that remotely resembles assembling a standard PC — it’s tedious work and in my whole life I had never been able to line up a motherboard properly — but […]
Fugget About It
01Feb05I’d completely forgotten that Winbook came out with an attractive XP MCE box for $999 after $200 rebate — the PowerSpec MCE 410. It’s got a P4 3GHz, 512MB PC-3200, 160GB SATA, 16x Dual Layer DVD+/-RW, Radeon X300 w/ 128MB DDR, 7.1 Audio, 7-in-1 card reader, single tuner, remote, etc. They squeezed it all into […]

Selected
07Sep04I’ve been chosen to partipate in the Tivo / Nielsen Media Research study, the release form arrived today. Time to fire up the Guide and Thumbs-Down every stupid-ass so-called Reality Television show. And everything on MTv that doesn’t involve Music. And The Rick Sanchez Show — who let that worthless sumbitch back into Miami?!
Tivo News
09Jun04Tivo has transitioned the former Home Media Option features to the standard service bundle and added a Multi-Service Discount for having several Tivos under one account ($6.95 for each additional unit).
Now if they’d just release Tivo2Go and add support for the Microsoft MN-710 802.11g adapter…
All isn’t happy for me in Tivo land right now tho. […]
TiVo Reboot Hell, Part Two
19Jan04After posting my little letter to TiVo, I filled out a support request on their web site and received the thoroughly helpful response below. My TiVo is planning to reboot itself again in about 2 hours, and it’s a safe bet that it will reboot itself again tomorrow.
